Miro Gathering is a medium scale, multi day, boutique music festival which emphasises celebration of relationships, connections, music, art, community. A lack of independent festivals in New Zealand (at the time) led to building a festival that provided a different experience for attendees. The difference was built into the overall experience, non profit, no advertising, tickets require password to be purchased, breakfast and dinner provided, all local underground artists and remote location. Cost was major factor as well, cutting profit allowed for cheaper tickets which meant great value for attendees. As a co-director, extensive planning went into power, artists, crew, food levels for the festival, health and safety, and programming. The outcome was one of the most talked about festivals through word of mouth during this time.
